74 ( +1 | -1 ) playchess.comYou can't watch live unless you have multimedia (streaming video) activated on playchess.com. How is this activated? You must get an update file. How does one get this update file. The only way I know is to get Chessbase Magazine#96 on cd. On that cd you will find the update. I tried for days (I am cyber challenged) to figure out how to hear Linares live on playchess.com before I figured out the multimedia wasn't enabled. Why doesn't chessbase explain this on their site? I have no idea. Why don't they have the download available on the site? I have no idea. Why isn't there any support for the marvelous Fritz family of software? I have no idea. There may be another way that somebody smarter that I knows about. Hope this helps.

65 ( +1 | -1 ) Another wayHi Gibo. Another way to get update of media system. Go to chessbase site and find Fritz 8 articles about Fritz 8 by Steve Lopez: Part I, II. The first thing he says to do is upgrade your Microsoft Media Player in Windows to version 9 because that's what the Fritz Media Player uses. It's a free upgrade through Microsoft. Only then can you get the Fritz multimedia to work. So far I've gotten the multimedia to work, but haven't been able to get anything live (like Linares). If you're desperate to follow Linares your best bet is to use ICC.com for boards and chess.fm for audio with Tony Rook, but you will have to listen to ads.
